Originally ‘Aero Oil,’ Aero Energy has come a long way since our inception in 1929. With changes in ownership, expansions in territory, and the evolution of our services, we've undergone significant transformations that shaped us into who we are today! Below is a detailed account of Aero Energy's rich history, showcasing the company's remarkable journey and growth over the years.
1929
Dave DeTar establishes the company under the name Aero Oil originally owned by Fleet Wing Oil Corporation.
1946
Atlantic Refining Company purchases Aero Oil.
1949
The Frederick District Office was purchased from Grace Thompson.
1957
Red Lion was purchased from the Pomraning Estate.
1958
The New Freedom District Office was purchased from Rehmeyer’s Petroleum, Inc.
1959
Seven Stars was purchased from Citizens Oil Company, a Texaco distributor.
1961
The Carlisle District Office was purchased from Hertzler Oil. Phillips 66 Petroleum purchases Aero Oil from Atlantic Refining.
1984
The Havre de Grace Office was purchased from Friendly Oil.
1986
Getty purchases Aero Oil from Phillips 66.
1998
Adams Electric Cooperative purchases Aero Oil and changes the company name to Aero Energy.
1999
Aero Energy purchases Aumen Oil.
2001
The Salisbury District office was purchased from J. William Gordy Fuel Co. The Prince Frederick Office was also purchased from Economic Development Authority of Calvert County.
2002
Aero Energy incorporates as Mid Atlantic Cooperative Solutions Inc. DBA as Aero Energy. Aero Energy also expands into the Metered Piped Community industry.
2008
Aero Energy officially establishes an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
2009
The Cambridge District Office was purchased from Wise Oil & Fuel.
2010
Allison & Marshall is purchased for their plumbing and HVAC business.
2011
Aero Energy purchases Arentz Oil.
2016
Edrich Lumber bulk plant location is opened.
2022
Aero Energy purchased the building at the Salisbury Bulk plant location.
2023
Aero Energy launches its bathroom remodel division - Baths By Aero and opened a new bathroom remodel showroom in New Oxford, PA.
